Having to move an entire organization from Lotus Notes to Google Apps can be tough step to make so that is most organization want to run a pilot of Google Apps. Typically the pilots consist of a small group of users or one department in an organization. In my opinion to get the most out of a Google Apps pilot you need to:
- Provide all of the users data (email, calendar, and contacts)
- Give great training so they know how to use their new tools
- Allow the pilot users to easily work and collaborate with non-pilot users
This last point is now easier for organizations using Lotus Notes who want to run a Google Apps pilot. The Google Calendar Connector for Lotus Notes (GCCLN) allows users of the Notes to look up the free/busy time of a Google Apps pilot user and vice versa. This functionality ensures that pilot users are not “silo’ed” and are still able to connect with their Notes co-workers.
